Thread: Impossible to find a 100k 100mm Linear Slide Pot for my Cessna 182 Project!

  1. Default Impossible to find a 100k 100mm Linear Slide Pot for my Cessna 182 Project!

    Hello,

I am having a really hard time trying to find a 100mm 100k Linear Slide Potentiometer, which will be used as a throttle lever for my yoke panel of my Cessna 182.

I am building a yoke panel or yoke strip panel, that integrates an avionics switch panel, flight yoke AND throttle quadrant! using Buttons, LEDs, Engine Start Switch, throttle levers etc, i've designed it from scratch, all artwork is designed by myself, electronics are simple but effective.....apart from one problem?........the throttle quadrant!

All i need is 3 x 100k 100mm Linear (Analog) Slider Potentiometers to complete the project (for my throttle quadrant), but im finding it impossible to find one, and preferable to be a UK supplier.....

Does anyone out there know where i can find a suitable potentiometer?

Its easy to grab a 60mm version, but thinking this may be a problem as the throttle will be VERY sensitive to the simplest touch of the lever, maybe it will do for now but would like the 100mm version (if i can find a supplier).

    So can anyone help?

PS. If anyone would like to have a look at my panel, as i took some photos of the process, then let me know and i will try and make a website and upload the pictures, also if anyones interested in designing something like this then your more than welcome to use my designs as i can give you the templates that i made (or you can modify them on a draw program which is free to download) anyway, message me or let me know on here if interested.

    Thanks fellow builders.

    Alex

You can use a 10K pot as well. It's not written anywhere you MUST use a 100K pot for an analog input. All that is required is that it be linear.

Sorry, I have no sources in the UK, but you can ask here: mycockpit.org

It's an international board so someone will have a link to a supplier in the UK.

We have a 172 sim pit but use push / pull throttles rather than a quadrant. These work quite well. I can try and find out more info on the pots used if you are interested. I'd be interested to see your set up.

    Default what pot?

Someone mentioned above that a 10K pot would work as well. Into what electronics? Are we talking about putting this pot on a USB system or an old gameport type adapter? Gameport joysticks were 100K linears, but what are the USB pots?

I know of no one still using gameport type cards to build a sim.

It's not cost effective and very impractical.

His questions have been answered at Mycockpit.org.

I don't think anyone from 2 years ago cares, but I could be wrong.
    Thanks,

I'd be interested to see what you're making and what hardware you're using. ie: Controler etc.
