Default default 747 virtual cockpit EEEK!!!

it doesn't look as nice as the other default jet VC cockpits. looks more like FS9 quality wise. the nav display also doesn't have the option to change anything at all. the textures are nothing like the others.

i'm wondering if it didn't load correctly or is that just how it is? seems funny if it's not up to the same quality as the others.

    anyone help here please?

Well it is an old aircraft, which might be why it looks old/poor.

does it not have the same functions in the displays as the other jets? seems like it would but mine doesn't.

since they made the other jets with decent VCs seeks like they'd do the same for the 747.

i just want to know if that's just the way it looks or if something did not load correctly on my end.

The other ones are more modern, so they will look alot better.

They skipped the 747 for updates in this version, its a real shame too, because you're right, that VC just sucks.

Its probably not something wrong with your load. Its just a VC from the previous version of the sim.

I think you're probably right that they skipped updates for the 747.Maybe they figured that those who were really interested would buy a payware version

thanks for the replies. it's good to know it's not a graphic issue on my end...was getting concerned there for a minute. i just got FSX installed this weekend and didn't want any suprises that usually pop up out of nowhere just when everything is running right.

it does look a bit better than the FS9 version though and i think i can live with it.

    thanks again,

I concur. The 747 VC is poor. Having to flip back and forth between the 2D and the 3D for just about everything you need to do makes flying this aircraft a bit of a disappointment. Especially considering it is the aicraft of choice for long haul flights (meaning you can be in the pit longer than in most other aircraft).

Another VC that disappoints me is the Beechcraft King Air 350. It's better than the 747 in some respects, but not all that much.

I love the 747, but I don't know why anyone would want to spend a lot of time in the default 747 since there is not much about it that resembles a real 747. If finances are a problem, the freeware IFLY747 is much better than the default. At least it has a semi-functioning FMC. If you really love 747's, the PMDG747 is a must have.

Yeah. I would agree. However, I am more of a person who likes to stick with the defaults. Less hassles, no stuffing around, less FSX crashes and problems, etc etc etc. So I have no add-on aircraft in my setup and I am very happy to keep it this way. Some would say that I am missing out and I am crazy, but I would disagree. I love FSX exactly how it is, even if a few of the default aircraft could be WAY better.

(Actually, I do have one add-on, Just Flight's Traffic 2005 [I am soon to upgrade to Traffic X] and I am extremely happy with it.)
