Default Addon Aircraft do not show up in list

I have downloaded several addon aircraft from Flightsim library but all do not show up in the list.
What could be the problem. What is necessary to have the aircraft in the list of Free flight. Is there a maximum no of aircraft that can be displayed.
    Please help;
    Thanks in advance

What do you mean "won't show up on the list"?
Do you mean you do not see any thumbnail pictures?

Did you check the box to view all repaints?

Need a little more information to assist you
    Thanks

For starters, make sure your panel.cfg and sound.cfg are aliased properly. Most of them are linked to the default Boeing 737-400 when used in FS2004. However, the default Boeing 737-400 does NOT exist in FSX. It has since been replaced by the default Boeing 737-800. A problem with the panel.cfg and sound.cfg is one reason why the planes don't show up.

The other reason could be that you are looking in the wrong place. Take Project Opensky, for example. Some of their planes appear under Boeing, others under Project Opensky, and others under POSKY.

Also, where did you install them? The directory structure in FSX is different from that in FS2004 and before, and if they were built for prior versions, they may have been installed in the wrong place. Check under the simobjects/airplanes folder to see if they are installed there.

    Default An idea:

    For example:

Go to Microsoft Flight Simulator X folder then SimOjects, Airplanes, C172, Texture, you'll find a .jpg image called thumbnail in all the default aircraft, do the following:

Put a .jpg image in your add-on plane, in its aircraft texture folder and rename it thumbnail.jpg.

If you don't do that, your other aircraft will not show in the proper place.

    airkevin has the reason.

If you don't inderstand me, go:

http://simviation.com/fsxaircraftinstall.htm, but don't forget the thumbnail part!

Well, the planes will still show up even without the thumbnails. Granted they might go out of place, but they'll still show up. With the panel.cfg and sound.cfg not properly configured, the aircraft is GUARANTEED to NOT show up.

I downloaded the JA37 Viggen (originally for FS2004) and the pack that should make it work in FSX, but this aircraft doesn't show up at all in FSX. It is installed in Simobjects/Airplanes, has anybody any experiences with this one?

Could you provide the exact filename of one of the aircraft you downloaded which does not show up?

Then one of us can check it out and see what the problem might be.

    Let us know, please.

Base file for FS2004 is JA37_2K4-ZIP, the update is ja37upxa.zip. One issue might be that I copied the contents of the panel file for the update into the original panel folder instead of replacing the original panel folder with the updated panel.

I just downloaded both files and by following the update (to convert the original FS2004 aircraft so it works in FSX) instructions exactly, the aircraft shows up under SABB just fine for me.

Perhaps you missed a step. You must replace the .air file, the aircraft.cfg file and add the panel.Vig in the base folder. There are other steps also but these are the most critical ones.

NOTE: To have the image of the aircraft show up as a thumbnail in the aircraft selection menu, follow the instructions in the previous post by Alexander.

    Hope this helps.
