thanks!! I'm glad, because I'm shopping for FSX.
Well, then, this is what you're looking to buy.
Also, note, the '747-400/F' is the freighter version.
PMDG's names can be confusing, but if you're shopping for FSX, the place I've linked to is what you need.
In addition, GET IT! Huge improvement over the FS9 version and my favourite FSX add-on. It's in my signature, it's that special!![]()

I want it, but I've got a friend that can't figure out how to get his screens to show anything--and he's a 737 pilot. He tried a normal autostart with CTRL+E, and then he's tried the checklist all to no avail.
I just don't want to run into the same problems for a small fortune. Have you ever had this problem?
No, never. If your friend has a pirated or illegal version, I hear that's a common problem with those. But I've never encountered such a problem, either in the FS9 or FSX version. The product is remarkably stable.
I've run it for long periods on XP Home, XP Pro, Vista Ultimate x64, and Vista Home Premium x32, and have had no problems whatsoever.
Assuming you're buying it through PMDG, their customer support and forums are very supportive and responsive, and their wikis provide solutions to commonly encountered problems, so even if you do have problems, they should be fixed extremely easily.
I doubt you will, however.
[In addition, ask your friend to try and run it with all the default settings. If he's using the PMDG Cold and Dark startup panel state in FS2004 or FSX, they are glitched and apparently the screens don't show anything with them. I'm 90% sure this is his problem, since real pilots like it Cold and Dark! Give him the advice and I'm sure it will help mate.]
Cheers, Asad

The PMDG747 takes a good system to run it, even then you will have to turn the sliders down to get decent rates. Their 747 is still my favorite FSX plane but it is an FPS hog.
I also have been flying their new MD-11 which just came out a few days ago and if you are looking for a heavy, it gets much better frames rates and has all the detail you expect from them.
PCAviator.com used to have good prices on the 747, and sometimes on weekends they have 10% off.

Not really... IMO the PMDG is underrated. I ran it at 19-20 FPS on High on my absolutely crap old laptop, so it doesn't really 'take over' frames.
With my new desktop, I achieve 60 FPS with all the sliders way to the right.![]()
