Thread: Unable to get aircraft to stop

  1. Default Unable to get aircraft to stop

    I recently downloaded a CRJ-700 aircraft from the Premaircraft Design website. I've got a couple of other models of this aircraft also downloaded from the same site. For some reason, this latest aircraft has a problem with brakes. The aircraft simply won't stop when I press the "trigger" button on the joystick. This button is assigned for brakes. The first time I tested out this aircraft, it wouldn't stop at all. The second time I tested out the aircraft with the groundhandling function enabled, I tested out the brakes just before the taxi run and the aircraft stopped in place. The aircraft was also able to stop with the groundhandling taxi speed function enabled -- if the aircraft taxi speed exceeded the established setting, the brakes would come on to slow down. Just as I approach the hold short line for the runway, I find that the aircraft won't stop. How is it possible for one aircraft to have this problem, but others of the same model work just fine. Can anyone help me fix this problem?

    is it an ultrarealistic sim?

    maybe overheating the brakes...?

    try pressing the period key and checking the assignement for the brake on the joystick be shure button repeat is at 0 -ZERO-

    I don't think the brakes could be overheating.

    The aircraft will actually stop if I click the parking brake icon on the groundhandling panel, but that isn't exactly a realistic or effective way to stop.

    I've checked the settings in FS9, and brakes apply is set to button01 (trigger button) on the Logitech Extreme 3d Pro Joystick. The slider for repeat rate is set all the way to the right.

    It's only one aircraft that has a problem with stopping. Is there something in the configuration file to look at? Would removing this aircraft and re-installing it do anything?

    What groundhandling program are you using? Theres a freeware add-on available for download which lets you a) control pushback using your joysticks rudder-twist and b) maintains a taxi speed which you select.

    If this is not turned off, it will mess up your brakes as it will be trying to counter-act your inputs to maintain that speed. Maybe this is the problem?

    it must be all the way to the left check it and retry

    should work

    It does not seem to make any difference whether the brake apply slider is set all the way to the left or right. I moved it all the way to the left, and the aircraft still won't stop unless I press ctrl + . to apply the parking brake.

    The ground handling gauge is the one that came with the aircraft. This gauge will properly control the speed of the aircraft including applying the brakes if I am going above the set taxispeed. The problem is, at some point, I need to turn off the auto taxi switch and be able to control the aircraft and stop at the hold short line or to be able to taxi into position and hold. Right now, those two things can't be done unless I apply the parking brake. Even pressing the . key on the keyboard doesn't have any effect.

    Arrow solution:

    goto aircraft.cfg open it w/ notepad, find:

    [brakes]
    parking_brake = 1 //Parking brake available
    toe_brakes_scale = 0.6 //Brake scalar
    differential_braking_scale = 1.0 //Delta on the amount of brake when the rudder pedals deflected

    increase the ""toe_brakes_scale = 0.6 //Brake scalar"" numerical value

    from 0.6 -i.e. only- to a higher value

    I just downloaded another aircraft from the flightsim file directory and this aircraft also has the same issue with stopping. Based on two completely different aircraft coming from two different sources, but both with the same problem, I have come to the conclusion that somehow EVERY aircraft that I have in the FS9\Aircraft folder is going to have the same problem.

    Under the [brakes] category, this is all that is listed:
    toe_brakes_scale=0.450697
    parking_brake=1

    That entry corresponds to a CRJ-700

    On a 737-700 aircraft, this is the entry under the same category:
    toe_brakes_scale=0.887403
    parking_brake=1

    None of the aircraft will stop when I press and hold the "trigger button" on the Logitech Extreme 3d Pro Joystick. The aircraft will stop if I press ctrl + . to apply the parking brake or if I click the parking brake icon on the ground handling panel. How is it that every aircraft has this problem? Am I going to have to into every aircraft.cfg file and make adjustments for the brakes?

    Maybe the problem is the joystick trigger button. Mine stopped working years ago, so perhaps map to another joystick button and try that.

    hi,
    try to insert this Brakes section in your Aircraft.cfg

    [brakes]
    toe_brakes_scale=1.00
    parking_brake=1
    Try also to increase the HYD Normal pressure(Default is 750PSI)
