    Default Can this be done?

    Is there a way I can change some files (backup first!) to allow me to fly the Cessna 172 SP AIRCRAFT without the GLASS cockpit? I like the plane a lot but I do not like the glass cockpit. If someone can walk me through it I would be most appreciative.

    When you are selecting the aircraft you should see on the list, a cessna with the little picture of the garmin glass in the corner, and one without that little inlay in the icon... Select the one without that plane has the old fashioned steam gauges..

    You'll notice on that screen that one is called the Skyhawk and the other says Skyhawk G1000... The G1000 is the one WITH the glass.

    Enjoy.

    Kurt, I tried that but that is not what I meant. What I want is to fly the PLANE with the glass cockpit yet with the OLDER gauges. Is that possible to modify the files to to that? I like the plane but not the cockpit.

    Thanks.

    So you want to fly the plane with the glass, but with older gauges???

    Do you mean "I want to fly the older style gauges Cessna, with the textures from the glass plane"?

    I think he means he wants to fly without the windscreen.

    Ok, so you want to fly the plane with the steam gauges, but you want the exterior to look like the new one?

    yes you can do that, but its too late at night for me to explain... (just got back from a wedding and my brain isn't clear right now).

    Can someone explain to him how to use those exterior textures with the steam gauges airplane?

    Yes. That's what I'd like to do. I would like to fly that exterior plane with the old gauges. I just like that exterior a lot. I am not too fond of the glass cockpit that's all. I do not know if it can be done but I sure would appreciate it someone could show me how IF it can be done.

    That is simple! Open the aircraft.cfg file for the C172 in notepad and edit the entries for the G1000 version, placing a double slash "//" before the G1000 model and panel entries:

    title=Cessna Skyhawk 172SP G1000
    sim=Cessna172SP
    model= // G1000
    panel= //G1000

    This way, to revert to the original all you need to do is re-edit the aircraft.cfg file to remove the // entries!

    There's also all the interior model textures in the texture.G1000 folder that would need to be deleted (be sure to make backup of folder first), otherwise, your gauges are floating on the Garmin background.
