    Default Dakota/FS2004/Vista x64 problem

Hi all...I have a strange issue with the Dakota running in FS2004 under Vista 64-bit. I've modified all references to the RXP GNS430 gauges to reference the new GNS430W versions that I bought, and they work fine in the Archer and Bonanza (as well as a few non-DF aircraft). But for some reason, the Dakota crashes my FS2004 whenever I select it. In the Archer and Bonanza, I had to remove the RXP_SELECT_SWITCH or something similar, the switch that controlled whether the GNS 430 drove the instruments or the FS GPS, to prevent a crash like I'm having with the Dakota. Is there another gauge or button that has to be removed in the Dakota to have it run under 64-bit Vista?

    Thanks guys. Love the products!

    Hi Lewis,

Currently the Dakota isn't compatible with Vista 64 at this time:

There may be gauges other than the GNS430 which are proving problems. You could "remark out" all gauges in all panels and see if the (gaugeless) panel will load. If it does you could then reinstate each gauge in turn until you found the culprit(s) and replace them.

Ah, I see Alastair. I was hoping that replacing the original GNS430 with the new GNS430W, with the upgraded trainer that does work in 64-bit OSes, would fix it. It does for the Archer and Bonanza, not the Dakota. So there's something else in the panel that's tripping it up. I'll dig through my panel.cfgs and see if I missed something when I converted them over to the GNS430W...I had a problem where referring to the other "old" gauges from the 430 package caused crashes before.

I know I'm in the extreme minority both still running FS2004 and trying to do it on a 64-bit OS, but so far, I've had remarkably few problems. Just one installer that won't work, and this Dakota. The Dakota's so good, it's worth it to spend some time digging through to fix it!

    Thanks for the response!
