Thread: The virtual world is so much nicer than reality sometimes...

Default The virtual world is so much nicer than reality sometimes...

Landing at my favorite place (YVR) with my favorite airline and plane! A Westjet 737!

I haven't been around much lately, I go through phases of "FS", but the main reason for my absence recently is that fact that I was in an accident, and my car was destroyed. Haven't done much of anything since that happened (June 30th, 2008). So if you'll allow it, a little obituary to my beloved car...

    It was a great car!

I was driving in the rain, the back end slid on me and I jumped a curb and hit a tree. I was on the brake, which shoved up on impact and ruined my foot, but I'm ok mostly...

...one more, this shot always amazes me. This is from the scene, thats the tree i hit on the left, no one moved the car, I bounced off of the tree about 2 feet or so. The airbags deployed, and I was wearing my seatbelt, but trust me, this hurt :P I estimate that I hit the tree between 30mph (50kph) - 40 mph (65kph).

I know this is a flight sim forum, but real life sometimes makes a "big impact" on us from time to time! So remember, be careful, and please, for gods sake, fly AND drive carefully! I know I'm not the only one to suffer misfortune, but I thought I'd post and let you all know about it as sort of a sincere warning.

--Keep the rubber on the "tarmac", plane or car!

PS, few more shots to those inclined to share in my pain, http://misqueeto.com/media/images/mustang/

Sorry to hear Josh! I know how it is personally when a car gets destroyed as well. Hope all's well for you soon!

thank you everyone, means a lot to me to have you all respond.

in truth, i've been a wreck in all sorts of ways since then. I cant justify it, but none-the-less, i'm just... frazzled. my foot will survive, it's the only physical injury aside from emotional.

my insurance isnt covering this incident, (long boring story i wont talk about) so i'm left with one and a half tons of metal. I think the mental impact has been worse on me, as i've been struggling quite badly with this "aftermath".

Thanks for the concern, it's just metal, i'm fine

So sorry about your car. My car is my baby aswell, and I can't imagine what it'd be like if I wrote her off... it's gonna be an emotional time when I sell her. Good shot too

Great shot. That's a real bummer about a neat looking car. Get well soon.

Thanks everyone, hopefully I'll get back to flying soon! I miss my 737's :P

It was my first major collision, and one I was responsible for, so that's not good, however, there's a lot to be thankful for, like the fact that no one else was involved, just me, my car, and that damned tree.

I owned it for about a year though, and had a lot of good times in it, lots of good memories!

The tree is fine by the way :P It is marked up, but it is quite solid, shook it up though, lol. I hope there wasn't any birds or squirrels on it, because I think they'd have gotten quite the scare!

Regular service from me will resume! Screenshots of planes Still don't know when, hopefully soon, things are pretty busy around here right now :P

PS, @Tom - You know it's ironic... I had decided to sell it, I knew that would be emotional, but I would have been happy knowing it was out there somewhere on the road, I never planned to part with it like this! I actually put out an ad to sell it a few days before I crashed! Awkward calls... "No.. it's not available anymore..."

Actually, bit of a funny story, it was towed to the impound lot, and when I was there to get it out, there were all these irate people getting upset about their cars being impounded for parking tickets and whatnot. They thought they had it rough picking up their serviceable and drivable car... all I was picking up was scrap metal!
