Anybody else have the problem of their logbook quitting recording flights? It has happened to me and a friend of mine. Any solutions other than deleting logbook.bin and starting over?

That seems to be a common problem. Search the file library here for a program called "FSX Logbook Recovery" by Daniel van Os. Works a treat for me.
I've heard theories that the corruption happens when you delete an entry other than the last one. I can't say for sure that's the cause, but I've avoided doing that and haven't had a corrupted logbook for a while now.
Here's a link to the recovery file GeorgeM mentioned...

I have had to use the Logbook Recovery program on a few occassions due to a corrupted logbook. The program has restored my corrupted on more than one occassion. A great tool indeed.
Interesting to hear the "theory" that corruption apparently happens when you delete an entry other than the last one. There was one time the Logbook Recovery program reported to me that it simply couldn't repair my file at all. I was left having to completely start a new fresh logbook. I am not sure if I was deleting entires in that logbook other than the last one; but I do seem to recall a few occassions where I was doing a "tidy up" and had deleted a number of different entires from the middle of the logbook. Deleting from the "middle" of the logbook does count for "entries other than the last one". Hmmm. I'm glad I saw this post. I'll keep it in the back of my mind next time I feel the need to "tidy up" my logbook.![]()
Among the reasons my logbook file is included in my daily backup.
Deleting entries from the middle certainly won't guarantee corruption, you might well be fine, but I'd be careful. If I wanted to tidy mine up I'd make a copy first just to be on the safe side. I think someone has written an FSX logbook editor, but as I recall it requires Java and at the time I ran across it I didn't feel like going to the trouble to check it out. Anyone here have any experience with it?
The logbook recovery program is great. I just want to mention another problem it fixes... When FSX started loading it would freeze on the splash screen and go no further, just hang there... after reinstalling and trouble shooting, I ran the recovery program out of desperation, and sure enough, it was a corrupted logbook causing the problem... odd I know, but such are the whims of software.
