Thread: Archer III changing from 2D to 3D view

Default Archer III changing from 2D to 3D view

I'm not really too worried about this, but am wondering whether anybody else has experienced it. When I change from 2D to 3D view in my Piper Archer III, I have to go through the complete cycle of views twice since the first time it goes into the 3D view, the image comes up like a line drawing - difficult to describe, but you just see the shapes in the cockpit (eg. the prop is a filled-in grey circle). Second time round everything's fine. I think its a video card issue, and is just a nuisance more than anything else - but it's only apparent with the Archer III (which I'm now enjoying flying by the way).

    Hi Stan,

This "lag" is very common, and indicates that your PC's ability to refresh the textures is slightly behind the demand to do so. You will also see this sort of thing when cycling to the Spot View - for some planes it takes a few seconds for the scenery to "snap" ino place.

Some planes are "worse" - on my system I get long "lag periods" with the Eaglesoft SR22 and Columbia 400 in both of the above screens, which suggest that the graphics demands are a bit much for my Athlon 4000+ / GeForce 6800GT system.

If the "lag" before the VC textures "snap into place" is only a second or two, I'd live with it.

    Cheers,

    Alastair

    Default 3D view changd

    Hi Alastair
I'm aware of the lag phenomenon, but my situation is more than that. I actually have to cycle through the views once before I get the proper view on the second cycle. If I leave it as it is on the first change, it simply stays like that. Interestingly its only on the 3D view. The other views come up with a lag and that's acceptable. I have no major issues with the problem and can live with it. I'm just curious as to whether anybody else has experienced it, and why I only experience it with the Piper Archer III.
    Thanks
    Stan
