Defender Pro just went crazy over several files I had downloaded from the FlightSim.com website. It was indicating a 'adware.win32.eshoper.bc' had infected the '.exe' files in the '.zip' files containing that kind of installer. It indicates that they could not be cleaned and that I had to delete them. I had done so on the other computer, but these are my last copies and I don't want to touch them. I suspect a false alert and was wondering if anyone has heard anything. I had a false alert not to long ago concerning a '.tmp' file and have become a little leary of my antivirus.

Try going to Trend Micro and/or Kaspersky and run their online virus scanners. There is also a free anti-virus app from Microworld you could download and run (it doesn't install anything on your computer and uses the Kaspersky engine).

Let the record show that webmaster Nels Anderson personally virus-checks every file admitted into the file library, and whatever the best antivirus software is, he will be using it. What the detailed implications of this are I do not know, but I want people reading this thread to understand that FlightSim.com has the cleanest library around.

Let it however also show that at times the banner ads run by fs.com have tried to install spyware and other nasties (no doubt without the consent of Nels or the rest of the staff, at least part of those ads are outsourced).

I don't speak for FlightSim.com but I believe that they have no control whatsoever over the artwork supplied by advertisers.

So that no one is confused, the files I have were downloaded quite a while back and I have been using them with no problems. It wasn't till just recently that this antivirus alert came up. I do not imply in any fashion that FlightSim.com is in anyway to blame. However if they want to send me money out of the kindness of their hearts I wouldn't say no.

I again re-iterate that I do not hold FlightSim.com responsible nor did I intend to accuse them of any wrong doing or negligence. I only wished information from fellow flight simmers to see if they are having a similar problem as I believe it is a false alarm.

I suggest you are getting a false-positive after your anti-virus did an update on it's database.

I used Symantec's online virus scanner and it found nothing. Another false positive.

Just as a test, I redownloaded one those files to the computer that I had deleted them off of and Defender Pro immediately recognized it as containing the same security threat. Defender Pro has really got me missing Norton's anti-virus program. I am going to un-install it and install AVG 8.0 and run the scan again to see what happens then.

Update! I just scanned the geebeez3.zip with PC Tools antivirus and it didn't find anything.
