Thread: Strange loads

    Default Strange loads

I have loaded alot of different things on our C130's, including other wildlife, like monk seals and manatees, but I doubt I'll ever have to load another whale. Too bad this guy had to be euthanized shortly before we got there. Was a pain getting it in our plane and back out.

On our Eagle Flight 130's in Germany, I've seen a few military dependants that could be considered whales!!

Ah, the USCG. If nobody else on the planet does it and it happens near a body of water, the coasties will probably step in and do it just to shut everyone else up!!

The whale was a "rare beaked nose whale" and it beached itself in Moloka'i Hawaii. Initially we were trying to get it back to Oahu for treatment, but the vet decided the whale was too far gone for recovery and put it to rest a little before we got airborn, so it turned into moving it back to Oahu so they could perform an autopsy. The co-pilot took most of the pic's, I was the loadmaster on the flight and too busy "scooching" the whale onto the plane. I'll see if I can get pics of it inside our plane. Was a short flight to Oahu and I didn't think about transferring pics till we were on short and final, so only ended up getting a few.
