Senior moments? What brought that up?

    alexm,

Since you seem to be an appreciative audience, here's one I just made up ...

You knew about people of color and people of size. Now you know about people of memory.

    Alexm,

You can't be serious. You took actually took offence at what I wrote? It may be off topic but then so is this whole subconversation, and what I wrote was a completely innocuous joke -- and the joke was on me.

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

But let's get back on topic ...

    Folks,

To see autoland in action in conditions of poor visibility is truly amazing. We want human flight deck crews but the precision with which Otto Matic can fly the aircraft is impressive.

Heh, heh... I wasn't being serious, Mike! Oh, man- I was trying to extend the joke by implying I had forgotten how we had gotten there...

Guess this was a case where typed communication didn't communicate the subleties that were intended. Please accept my apology for the unintended result!

    Cheers,

And you must accept mine for being such a dolt that I didn't recognize a well-intended joke.

    --AUTOLAND--
    Back to topic:
There is an autoland button available. ( As download on flightsim.com I think, maybe was Avsim). Download, you get three folders + detailed instructions on where to put them AND a text file stating the lines you have to add to the panel.cfg file. All you have to do after that is make sure it appears in the panel in the right spot by ajusting the numbers. something like "gauge38autoland!autoland 348, 35, 20, 20 " first 2 are the position in the panel, last 2 are the sise of the gauge. actual position is different for each aircraft panel, size too. this is just an example. For position, look at panel, decide where you want it, look for buttons around that spot, check their positions in the panel.cfg and guestimate the coordinates for the gauge. For the size, just enter something like 20, 20 . Then start fsx, load the aircraft, see what it looks like, and change slightly after exiting FSX again.
Now all you do for a CATIII landing is line up for ILS approach as usual, flaps set and gear down, at 3000ft above the ground. Press appr button as normal. then press autoland button. It will even do things like set flaps ( in case you forget, ) and set the autobrakes. most importantly, it makes the plane flare before touching down. Sets the airplane down beautifully in the middle of the runway. maybe you must apply reverse thrust yourself, dont remember.
I just did a full reinstall so I dont have it anymore, but it worked perfectly for the default 737/747/beech baron/crj700 and addon airbus-project 380/addon fokker100-70taj. Didn't work for other fokker 100 (baggan-air)addon because centre of gravity was wrong in that aircraft. I couldnt get it right and discarded that aircraft, manual landing with was just as impossible-bad addon plane.
With autoland Button come very good and detailed instructions.
you only need to install the folders once, then you can add it to all panels.
Try It, it works great. landing in full fog and seeing the runway lights just before you touch down is so cool!!!!!!!

    grts,
    Dragy
