    Smile Explanation - panel

    Hi everyone

Another post from me, this time concerning panel. Can anyone please tell me (or provide a link) to the explanation of this attached panel? The things I've circled are thing I don't understand. What does N1 for example mean?

    Thanx again for ur help....

Detailed information about turbine engines is available via wikipedia and of course some google searches... For instance 'N1 Turbine' will get you lots of results.

N1 is the low speed compressor and often is the indicator used to set power in a jet... while it is not necessarily similar to manifold pressure or RPM in a piston plane, its utility to you is much the same... It is your basic measure of engine output.

    ITT is the IntraTurbine Temperature.

Up on the upper part of your panel shot you have switches and buttons related to the displays and to your autopilot...

FD1 is your 'FlightDirector' which is represented by the pink bars in your Attitude indicator.. If you have a flight plan loaded or are navigating on a GPS or VOR course it is going to direct you to your course. The CRS1 dial below that switch dials in a course selection which appears on your Horizontal Situation Inidcation which is directly below the Attitude indicator (Attitude inicator being the circle with the Blue on top and the brown on the bottom (when all is according to plan).

The APP button places the AutoPilot in the Approach mode... This is used to have the plane follow an ILS Approach.

    BNK is Bank Angle

    YD Is Yaw Dampener

The pink characters you have circled on your Primary display are information concerning your current loaded navigation leg..

DTK is the Direct Course to the waypoint.
GPS indicates you are navigating on GPS
KVNY is Van Nuys Airport and appears to be your next Waypoint
5664 NM is the distance in Nautical Miles to that waypoint.

    Moving right along..

Since you circled the entire right display... Some of that stuff should be self explanitory..

N2 is the high Speed compressor
Oil PSI is your oil pressure
Oil C is your Oil temperature in Celcius

Below those are your fuel indications.

And the bottom quarter of that page is pretty clearly trim positions, and flap indications which are realitively self explainitory (ask if you need clarification).

lastly, the dials at the top set display modes (and I don't think they work on the panel you're using for your shot (although I may be wrong).

In the default Lear, since that's the panel posted, they select what is showing on the HSI.
