Thread: local multiplayer

    Default local multiplayer

Does FSX REQUIRE an internet connection in order to do multiplayer? Did they eliminate the option to use direct TCP/IP on a local network? I don't do the on-line thing, but I would like to connect local computers and interact through TOWER, or INSTRUCTOR STATION. Is INSTRUCTOR STATION included in FSX as in FS9? <ED>

    Wink No less only more

    Hey Ed,

You won't need an internet connection to make a LAN connection.

You can still do anything with FSX on neworked computers that you could with FS9. If you've gotten attached to FSNav then you will be dissapointed,,because is isn't available for FSX and won't be. There are several other programs that are close to it that are availble.

FSX features cockpit sharing,,,you can be downstairs on one computer and someone else (on your network) on another computer upstairs and both be in the cockpit of the same plane at the same time.

FSX also has an option that lets you be in charge of traffic in the control tower.

If you do want to get "on" to an FSHost server at some time in the future (I strongly suggest giving it a try) in FSX you will have to d/l and install FSHostClient from:

    http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/fshost/

Sounds like you're considering picking FSX up,,,or else you would know these things already.

I'm gonna come right out and tell ya now ,,,,not sugar coat anything like too many others have done,,,,,you will have to have a butt-kicking gaming machine to run FSX with any degree of satisfaction,,,,and if you're planing even more demanding on-line play,,,including just "in house" you will have to have top of the line equipment to get the job done.

    Best regards,

Salt-Air's hit the nail on the head again! My rather old computer runs FS2004 with everything maxed out, FS Nav, Teamspeak, email and internet browser all running at the same time. I got FSX to a workable state but go online and open teamspeak it just grinds to a halt again.

    You have been warned!
