I don't know if you've done any googling on the 401st or your father's plane, but there is a 401st association and a database.

Maybe someone who is an aircraft painter could do one up for the WOP B-17. A guy painted me a Hell's Messenger for FS9. Correct tail number, squadron letters, the whole deal. I was very grateful for that.

Thanks Fitzy - I was actually at that site last night and registered. That book I have seems to be pretty rare. It's the "Blue Book", a Pictorial History of the 401st Bomb Group, published in 1946. Fitch's Bandwagon was rammed by another B-17 on the taxiway in June '44 and totaled. My dad was later sent to the States for B-29 training and getting ready to ship out for the Pacific when Japan surrendered.

I Saw the B17(Sally B) fly once it gave me goose bumps! its a fantastic achievement to have developed such a great plane and a rare treat to still see one Fly today, one of just over 10 still airworthy around the world ....a bit weird since over 12,500 were built!..we brits have our very own ''Sally B'' of course, the only airworthy example in the uk today.

I was wondering what sort of high octane fuel do the B-17's use today, is it different than the war stuff?

I think they use 100LL (100 Octane Low Lead) just like a Cessna. SPOFF
