Default Visibility distances and layers In FSX.

Can anyone help with the visibility distances and layers in FSX. When I download real weather the majority of the time the visibility is unlimited and when I am at high altitudes you seem to be able to see a very long way.
I have also set up visibility layers so when on the ground with overcast or broken clouds at 5-10,000 feet it is 30nm and when climbing above the cloud it goes to 50nm. The problem then is I get a solid white line when transitioning between the layers.
I have not been up in many real flights, 5 at the most and what I can remember is everything looked hazy even at high altitude.
Can somebody please help with good settings for visibility for flights, or reducing the distance when using real world weather.

Ps. I do most of my simmimg in UK.

I don't think there's help for this. No version of MSFS gas done a very good job of producing blending between visibility layers. You can get creative and make your own weather in whihc you can ease the transitions, or you can stick with real world weather and sometimes have that 'white ocean' lapping at the tops of mountains.

    Thank you for your reply.
If I remember rightly in fs2004 you could set the maximum visibility distance to 60nm for unlimited, is this possible with FSX?

I agree, FS has always done a poor job of UK weather. If creating your own weather, I tend to do something like 10 miles up to say 3,000ft and add a layer of cloud there to mask the visibility layer banding. Next layer at say 30 miles and again add cloud and 50 miles after that.

The idea being to use a fair bit (both depth and coverage) of cloud at each visibility transition.

Correct, I observed the same. In FS9, using FSUIPC you have a very good restitution of overcast weather. In FSX, downloaded weather is always blue sky between clouds and unlimited visibility. I tried FSUIPC to set visibility limitations but it does not work.

It is so bad that I came back to FS9 for bad weather simulation.
