    Default AFCAD Help

Ok, I have been simming for 12 years now and am going to finally take a stab at creating an AFCAD file for several airports that I regularly use.

I downloaded AFCAD221 from the must have files on Flightsim.com.

I unzipped it to a new folder then launched flight sim and AFCAD. I know the readme says that it can take a little bit of time to launch the first time, but it seems to hang up in a really bad way. I walked out and played with the kids and came back in and it was still on the 5th block on collecting airports. I am pretty sure I followed all the instructions but can someone help me out a little bit.

    Thanks in advance.

You are working with FS9 and AFCAD? If not then AFCAD is not intended to work with FSX and I am not sure what happens if there is no FS9 installation available

Did you try loading AFCAD on it's own without FS? If not try that. If so are you saying that AFCAD is just hanging without doing anything? How far does it get?

    Thanks Scruffy..

Ya, I have FS9. I have tried it both ways. Starting FS9, then AFCAD it hangs up on the collecting airports. I tried starting AFCAD alone and it still didnt want to work.
It got to the same place on collecting airports and stopped.

I even let it go for 30 mins. I do have FSUIPC active in my modules folder so who knows what is up. Maybe Ill just scrap the idea.

Do you have a lot of add on airports? Maybe there is something wrong with one that is causing AFCAD to hang. A connection of FS is not relevant as far as this process is concerned. It is purely about searching the FS folders for airport information. If one is corrupt then that could stop the process. Unfortunately Addon airports can be all over the place but if you could perhaps move your addons out of the path temporarily then it you might determine which file is causing the problem

Ya, have bunches of Addon airports. Some payware (Fly Tampa) other are freeware. That must be the hang up. Thanks for helping me trouble shoot. I really do appreciate it.

Ill take em out and see what happens.
