Thread: Groundhandling Panel Question

  1. Default Groundhandling Panel Question

    I've downloaded several of the Embrarer 190 aircraft from the premaircraft.com website. I initially discovered that when I wanted to use the groundhandling panel for pushing the aircraft back (an alternative to the shift+p 1/2 which seems not to work from time to time) and controlling the taxi speed. When I clicked the icon to bring the panel up, it didn't open. I wasn't aware that I could have pressed shift+4 to bring this panel up.

    Anyway, it was later determined through contact with the support at the premaircraft website that the panel did in fact work, it's just that the icon that calls the panel up didn't work. I received a replacement file to fix this problem, but it actually created a new problem.

    The groundhandling panel opens, but the pushback function does not work. The support personnel at Premaircraft.com state that everything on the panel works on their end. How can it possibly be that a panel component works fine on a developers system but not the end user system? I've got other aircraft from premaircraft.com which seem to be using an older version of the pushback utility and that version works fine.

    Can anyone help me out with this problem?

    I'm using it and have no problems. Might double check to see that you have the files installed correctly. The latest gauge files are contained in the 'rcb-gauges' folder. Note that the gauges are installed as a folder and not individually. The version I have incorporates both the Pushback & Taxi functions plus an updated GPWS (version 3) gauge files. The 'Arrow' icon displays the Pushback window properly.

    Initially, when I pressed the arrow button, the panel didn't open. It was confirmed as a bug, and in fact the premaircraft website has a fix for this, but they sent me an updated CAB file. I can now get the panel to open, but the pushback functionallity doesn't work. In other words, once I have the pushback and turn distance/direction set and press pushback, I *should* hear the communication "ground from cockpit; go ahead, ready for pushback,"etc. That doesn't happen. If I press the parking brake button, the brakes remain engaged, and the same is true when pressing the period button on the keyboard for the brakes.

    I first downloaded the three package version (3 EMB-190 liveries in one package) and I recently downloaded the newest one -- EMB-190 US Airways Express. I've extracted all files to the main FS9 folder using winzip with the "use folder names" option checked.

    Unfortunately, all the EMB-190 aircraft seem to have the same problem of the pushback not working. I also don't believe that the GPWS is working as I don't hear any altitude call-outs or glide slope indicators when landing.

    Premaircraft.com states it works for them, and they can't figure out why it doesn't work on my end. They did say that I could take an older version of the pushback and copy it over the newer version, but I would first like to try to figure out why this isn't working. I'm not sure which of the older files I would need to copy over into the new aircraft folder.

    OK, I've down loaded the PAD EMB190 and discovered two things"

    1. Go to the panel.cfg file and correct gauge21 to read as follows:
    gauge21=rcb_groundhandling4!Icon_Pushback, 306,292,18,18

    The pushback function will then work correctly.

    2. They provided GPWS2 instead of the updated GPWS3.3:
    gauge23=rcb-gauges!GPWS2_E190, 5,544,94,36

    but, they didn't supply the sound file that it needs. I replaced gauge 22 with my version 3.3 GPWS sound file and it works fine. Sorry I don't have the GPWS2 files any more.

    //gauge22=PAD_sound!xml_sound, 20,1,20,20,./Gauges/pad_sound.ini
    gauge22=GPWS_Sound!dsd_xml_sound3, 0, 0, 0, 0,./sound/GPWS/Sound.ini

    You can check the GWPS sound on the ground by clicking on the upper right elongated button twice.

    In any case the GPWS sound folder usually resides in your FS9 'Sound' folder. You might check and see if you already have one. If so, you may be able to get it to work by renaming gauge22.

    I believe their DHC8-Q300 has the new GPWS files.

    Hope this helps.

    I've just now had the opportunity to try out the modifications listed in this post. After making ONLY the modification to the groundhandling panel, the first thing I noticed was that the icon to bring up disappeared. In order to bring up the panel, I have to press shift+4. The next thing I noticed after obtaining pushback clearance was that there was no audio once I setup the pushback and then pressed pushback. Basically, I'm right back where I started from. I can't understand why this pushback panel works on all the other PAD aircraft except for the Embrarer 190.

    Another thing I noticed was that the EMB 190 "three aircraft" package installed to a folder called EMB190_9. The latest EMB190 aircraft offered by PAD (US Airways Express) installed itself to E190usx9.

    As far as the GPWS goes, when I clicked the right button to perform the test mode, all the individual buttons came up yellow and when I moused over them, they all indicated disabled.

    Should I just download the groundhandling panel and the GPWS from the file library and overwrite the existing versions? I would really like to get this working.

    Are you using the "Panel FIX" file that was available for download on the PAD site? If so, it's no good. You need to be using the original 3-pack download panel file. I can PM you with zip files of the panel.cfg file, the, gauge files, and sound files you need to get this thing working if you like. Let me know.

    Before I was even aware of any problems with any of the panels in the EMB-190 aircraft, I downloaded the 3-pack EMB-190 to start out with. What I found with that was that while the arrow for the grounhandling panel was in place, but the icon that calls up the panel wasn't working correctly. PAD support eventually figured this out and one of the developers fixed it. PAD support then sent me a file called emb190.CAB and indicated that I should copy that file into the panel.bwb folder, overwriting the existing file and that should solve the problem. That file DID solve the problem of the panel not opening by clicking the icon, but the ability to use the pushback feature didn't work. I haven't downloaded any fixes from the PAD site, and have only overwritten one file which is the one that they sent via e-mail.

    I then downloaded their newest EMB-190 (US Airways Express). I'm guessing that perhaps this newest aircraft has the fix from the website already included. Again, with this aircraft, the panel opens using the icon, but I still have the same problem of not being able to use the pushback feature.

    FYI: This used to work on the original DASH 8 and E-190. I just reloaded FSX and downloaded it and it does not work at all. I've emailed Bob at Premaircraft and in the past, he has usually been pretty fast at getting back to me.

    We'll see what happens

    Seeing how this is the FS9 forum I assumed those who want to use the GPWS info posted here would be using FS9. If you're using FSX you might want to talk to the folks over at that forum to see what and how they use it.

    NMLW: Are you going to be able to send the GPWS/Ground Handling files for FS9 so that I can hopefully get those features working again?
