    Question United's 737s

I forgot where I read it, but I read that United is planning to get rid of its entire 737 fleet. I just want to know whether that is true or not.

I doubt it. It would seem more economical to me to fly with 737s. That's why Southwest isn't on the verge of dying.

Ahh, okay. Just thought I read that somewhere. I know they are getting rid of at least 100 of their aircraft.

Not sure they're "getting rid" of them; maybe just parking them for awhile.

They are indeed parking all their 737s.

Of those 100 you mentioned, 94 are their whole fleet of 737s, and 6 are 747-400s.

Economically speaking 737s have little to do with it, Southwest shrewdly negotiated fuel contracts so they're paying significantly less for fuel than other airlines.

United has the older model 737's which are not as fuel efficent as the 700, 800, 900 series.

    Id ditch those things too.

From the way I understand it, they bought/continue to buy futures about 10-12 years ahead. So they're still paying at least 1998 prices for jet fuel.
