Thread: Set up of SAITEK equipment

  1. Default Set up of SAITEK equipment

    Hi,
I have just bought all the SAITEK hardware and I was wondering how to set up all controls to have a realistic behaviour of the a/c. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated (especially from real pilots).

    Thank you

They sell all sorts of hardware, so stating what you have may be helpfull.

I use the X-52 without the Saitek software and all default settings for controllers in FSX. The 727 flight model is designed to provide realistic behaviour without needing users to start messing about with their settings.

Sorry Paul, I should have been more clear.
Well I have PRO FLIGHT YOKE SYSTEM + Quadrant + Pedals.

I have set everything through FSUIPC because under FS I was not satisfied but yes, I was nearly crying when I landed: it's incredible to flight with the right equipment and with the most loved a/c.

If anybody has good suggestions, please.

    Thank you
    Lorenzo

Lorenzo...I have the Pro Flight Yoke system w/ 2 throttle quads and rudder pedals. I, however, did not set up assignments through FSUIPC. You can get very mixed results through the module.

I set up everything within FS9 by deleting ALL joystick assignments within FS9(including joystick assignments in the slew mode) and then go back and reassign joystick assignments for the yoke, rudder pedals and throttle quads. Keep in mind that you will need to set the sensitivities on each throttle lever, rudder pedals, etc, to MAX and reduce the dead zones for each to MINIMUM. Make adjustments as you deem necessary. I just know by experience that FSUIPC isn't going to do the job of making all of these items work together smoothly.

I have enjoyed using the Saitek Pro Flight system in flying the 727. Makes it quite interesting to fine-tune power adjustments with 3 throttle levers instead of 1.

    Good luck!

    av8tor98,

I do the same thing as you. I never use manufacturer profilers or drivers, only the services built into FS itself. Like you I blow away all default assignments and systematically make my own.

I did the same with the throttles on the quadrant. For whatever reason, I didn't have any luck at all with FSUIPC controlling the three engines.

Flaps, speed brakes/spoiler, fuel control, parking brake etc, etc, all work great with FSUIPC, but the throttles I had to turn over to FS.

I could not get them to synch properly, or have enough throw for each lever.

Does anyone know if there is an FS command I can program in FSUIPC to cause the engine start levers to toggle, or better on/off?

    The commands are:

'Mixture Full Rich' for fuel on, makes no difference whether prop or turbine.
'Mixture Full Lean' for fuel off.

Be sure you use the individual engine commands, not the all-in-one command. IE, 'Mixture Full Rich #1', etc.
