Thread: pss 777 or wilco 777

Default pss 777 or wilco 777

Hi everyone just wondering which is the most realistic and has the best frame rate out of the both the pss 777 and wilco 777, because I bought the pss 777 ages ago and I think that it descends very quickly and the sounds are awful

    So whats everyones opinion

I used a complex panel 777 that wasn't from PSS (it might have been from Wilco, I'm not sure) and I immediately deleted it because some of the systems were completely unavailable for use, for example the ADIRU, you couldn't align them or unalign them, and there were other things too. For me this is awful, I need everything to be operative, and I think that skipping things like that is lazy.

As far as I know there are only two 777s with complex panels out there, PSS and Wilco, and I think the one I've mentioned is Wilco, but anyone feel free to correct me. I'm using the PSS and I like it.

the Wilco 777 is not in the same class as the PSS bird.
Flight dynamics are terrible, panel is extremely incompletely modelled, FMC only has about half the functionality of even the first PSS version for FS2000, fuel burn is woefully unrealistic (it won't make it from Amsterdam to Curacao for example, despite KLM using their T7s on nonstop flights to for example Lima which is several hours further away).

It does look good, got to give them that.

Support is identical to what you currently get for PSS, meaning there is no support.
But with PSS that's because they are out of business, with Wilco it's because they refuse to support the product.

But don't you think that it descends too quickly, and also I put the speed down to what is needed for landing and on my approach, I am descending at a pitch of 10 degrees. find it very unrealistic. By the way, to Tom what is BA virtual and how do you use it in FS2004 on VATSIM?

I've never descended at a pitch of 10 degrees. It might be that you've incorrectly (or the FMC has incorrectly) calculated the top of descent and the plane wants to get down quicker... or might have something to do with weight. I'm not sure, I've not had that problem.

BA Virtual is a virtual airline (www.bavirtual.co.uk) and you sign up (usually a waiting list of a couple of weeks) then you take a test. If you pass that test you're then a member, get assigned a user ID (mine is BAW0864) and you need to fly once every 30 days minimum. If you fly online you can use a program called ACARS (downloadable from the BA Virtual website) to monitor your flight progress. If you want to fly offline then you use the BAV OSP, also downloadable from the site. I fly online with VATSIM, but I use the BAV OSP because ACARS won't work on my system for some reason.

the wilco/feelThere 777 was never designed to be a high fidelity sim. this is the same as the CRJ. both are FLEET products; meaning:
The 777 features a 'Wilco Fleet' level of developement. Complexity of some procedures and/or equipment functionnalities may have been reduced to suit beginners and medium skilled simmers.

support is available through these sources -
IMO over 95% of the 'bugs' reported with the wilco 777 are from persons refusing to read and understand that the aircraft is not designed to be a high def. simulation.

I know it's designed as a less complex product, but it does need mention.
And that doesn't in any way excuse the poor flight dynamics and woefully inadequate fuel burn.

Support IS nonexistent. Wilco points you to Feelthere, who just tell you to go to Wilco.
I've experienced that myself. Yes, I did buy that POS 777 of theirs, when it was the only big airliner for FSX.
Read their support forums and you'll notice the announcement that they do NOT give tech support. Read Wilco's website and you read the same thing.
And email them and you get the same response.

I don't care if it doesn't model everything, as long as what it does model is modelled correctly. And it isn't.

    untrue.

    from wilco's 777 support page -
If you have any questions or comments, please send them to our support team using the following link : Support Form
in addition there is only one reference to feelthere's support forum on wilco's 777 support page -
I have an error message that says "Error COMCTL32.OCX" ?
Please read this post on the forum from FeelThere.
feelThere will provide assistance through support forum for questions on how to fly the 777. no question like this has been 'sent to wilco'. Q&A about technical issues (ie, my VISTA w/SP2 system with CPU XYZ with soundcard ABC causes a LMNOP CTD) are to be reported using wilco's support form.

I used that support form, got an email back to "contact Feelthere for support on the 777 product".
Contacted Feelthere, got an email to "contact Wilco for support on the 777".
