I predict AVG will win this poll by a very wide margin.

Even those who don't use AVG will switch to it.

Kaspersky, and I'll never switch to the crap that's AVG.
AVG causes masses of false positives, corrupts perfectly good files as a result, etc. etc.
The only "good" thing about it is the price, but as always: you get what you pay for.

I arrived at Kaspersky after years of testing many different solutions, and it's simply the best out there.

Another Kaspersky user here. I do have AVG on a virtual machine that doesn't get used much, but Kaspersky is my main anti-virus app.

I'm using AVG8. AVG7 was fine but my PC boots so slow with AVG8 I may have to go back to 7 or consider an alternative. A Google search tells me i'm not the only one having problems with avg8 which seems to be a bit of a hog.

Yep, been using AVG for a few years now and am quite happy with it. Yes, it is a tad over-sensitive at times, but can be set-up to not automatically remove or "heal" infected files. AVG 8 is a little heavier it seems that AVG 7.5, but my system which is really old seems to cope fine and doesn't hang on restarts anywhere near as much as it did with AVG 7.5.

Ideally it would be better to not have a reason for virus scanners...

Norton and McAfee have become so bloated that they actually systems to their knees. When will software developers learn that more isn't always better?

I have been using AVG for a few years now. Every now and then I will break away and try something different just to see what's new on the market.

I love AVG but the biggest problem I have with AVG 8.0 is that it has become so bloated, just like Norton and McAfee. The link scanner feature slows down your browsing way too much. There is no option in the custom install to choose which components are installed. I had to install AVG 8.0 with a command line with a series of switches just to not have link scanner and some other junk installed.

Just give me a competent virus scanner. Leave the rest to me.

    Default Trend Micro

Trend Micro here.. no problems no muss no fuss....

I don't think there are any perfect anti spyware / anti virus programs..

Image your PC *** so you can really go back to being clean***

Hit 4 or 5 porn sites... just the opening pages mind you.... ( even use firefox or opera )..

Wait for the fireworks.... garbage everywhere...

Reviews are untrustworthy as well.. he who pays the most gets the best reviews..

    Just my 2 cents...

    Folks,

As I posted elsewhere in this forum a few months ago, the Kaspersky 7.5 demo never found anything for me but AVG has, so I didn't follow through with buying Kaspersky.

I have 600,000+ files, none of them is scenery, and only once did I get false positives out of AVG -- and those disappeared with the next AVG update. AVG also found a virus in a download for me a few days ago, an obscure variant of the kernel.exe trojan horse. I don't know whether Kaspersky would have found it.

As usual, I'm not telling anybody what they should do, I'm simply telling what I do and why I do it.

Norton. I just turn off Auto Protect when I fly.
