I think the message here is that Microsoft hasn't given much detail at all about Windows 7, so any asumptions people are making are just that, assumptions. They never claimed that the MinWin kernel would be the core of the next version of Windows, though many others across the internet assumed it would be. Sounds like Microsoft is trying to avoid the same PR mess they had with Vista by not releasing too much information.
I was hitting on the part that said “Microsoft's preliminary statement was that Windows 7 will feature little if any general architecture changes from Vista”. Which speculation or not coincides with the confirmation that it will be released in 2009, which seems to be a little too soon to get a full OS rework out the door.
