I don't know much about the CH yoke, but I'd suggest you check your axis assignments under settings/controls, on the AXIS tab. There you can find out what that mixture control is really assigned to.

Beyond that, if perhaps the problem is in the CH software setup or something else unique to the CH, perhaps someone who uses that equipment can help.

can't think of anything else except bad hardware, and that's extremely unlikely.

Click settings/assignments... that middle lever defaults to your rudder axis.

    Hi Morgan,

One strong recommendation - immediately after reinstalling FS2004 install the FS9.1 update ! This corrects a number of problems and is well worth while.

Recommendation 2 - check your controls before flying. If you open the "Game Controllers" calibration screen and "wiggle" the yoke and rudder to its maximum up/down/left/right/forward/aft settings you'll see whether they are calibrated properly. If USB devices, by default they are set to "go to sleep" if unused for a period of time, so go to Control Panel, System, Device Manager, USB Controller and right-click each of the entries in turn. For those with a Power Management tab option (see screenshot below) deselect the power management option.

If you're confident that the physical units have been calibrated, then once in FS2004, a quick "Spot View" visual check that the rudder and ailerons move correctly when you move the yoke and pedals is sometimes enough. On my system, the pedals sometimes get "sluggish" with a non-symetrical response. Unplugging the USB connection for a few seconds then plugging it back in (with the normal "bing-bong" response from your PC) usually corrects this.

Recommendation 3 - start small ! In real life pilots will start flying a small, single-engine plane, graduate to a larger (maybe twin-engined) plane and only then start flying the smaller and larger jets. Whilst it may be fun to jump straight into a 747, the lessons learned flying the smaller planes in terms of working the controls and basic flying, are well worth doing. Repeatedly crashing your airliner because one can't control it properly soon loses its appeal !

After reinstalling FS9 and installing the F9.1 update, make sure you go to the control panel of Windows and calibrate the Yoke and Pedals.

Then start FS9 and go to assignments. There make sure to delete the rudder for the yoke and assign it to the pedals. (it sounds to me that your problem was due to the double assignment of the rudder) That's what happened to me before and the above actions solved it.
The sliders on the yoke should be set to Throttle, Prop pitch and mixture.
The pedals are for the brakes l/r and the rudder. (in case you didn't already know that )

When you get more familiar with FS9, and the yoke and pedals, you might consider installing the CH Control Manager, which you can download here

I am sure the yoke and pedals will be a huge boost for the joy of flightsimming.
