Default Vista's irritating green block in upper left corner?

Hi all, I am new to Vista (Ultimate) and forgive me if this is a stupid question. Recently I am finding an irritating green block in the upper left corner of the screen as soon as I load FSX. Apart from this, FSX runs well, but the block partly obscures the menu bar. The block contains the word "Original" with a picture of what seems a computer chip and a plus sign (+) with an arrow pointing upward. The block remains there throughout the FSX session and disappears when exiting. Clicking or right-clicking on it has no effect. If anybody knows how to get rid of it I would be very grateful! Thanking you in anticipation. My specs below.

Intel Core 2 Duo 6850 processor 3.0 Ghz, Asus Maximus Formula X38 motherboard, 4 x 1024 MB DDR 800 RAM, 2 x Seagate 500 GB SATA II hard drives (16 MB cache), MSI 8800 GTX 768 MB DDR3 video card, LG 20x Lightscribe DVD-writer, Gigabyte 800 W power unit, Gigabyte Aurora case with 3 fans, Windows Vista Ultimate Service Pack 1, FS9 and FSX SP1, Nvidia 169.25 video driver.

By any chance, do you use Fraps?

I think that green box might be a remnant from Fraps.

Yea Vista is definitely not the cause of this issue. Some other program is causing the block to appear.

I concur. I run FSX full screen in Vista (32bit). There is no such green block on my screen. Neither when I have the menu bar on or when I have the menu bar off.

    Default Problem solved

Dear friends, many thanks to you who responded. Problem solved - the green message block went away after I solved what appears to be a related problem in FS9. In FS9 I was, after changing to Vista (Ultimate), unable to change views when pressing "S" while in windowed mode, I was only able to run FS9 faultlessly in full screen. Yesterday I searched for a solution to this in the FS9 forum and read that this can be solved by simply changing the Vista desktop theme to the old "Classic" theme. Lo and behold, not only did this simple solution solve the views problem in FS9, but also removed the unpleasant green warning block in Vista while running FSX!

I can only conclude that the green block is a warning sign from Vista telling you that the software you're running is incompatible with the desktop theme. Very poor show from Vista, however, in failing to add a written explanation to the green block and just assuming that you know what it means.

Anyway, problem solved and now, for the first time in 5 months after getting a nice PC, I can start simming seriously after having spent the past months solving countless configuration problems. I would long since have gone over to Apple / Imac (and as far away from Windows and PCs as possible) had it not been for my love of flight simulation ... Where would we have been without these wonderful forums (and kind people willing and able to help)?

Glad you solved your problems, that is for sure the fix for the "S" key in FS9 window mode. Although the green block went away, I am not so sure as to the cause as I have been running Vista Ultimate 32 bit with an 8800GTX and the Aero desktop for a year. I have not seen the green block with FSX or FS9. FSX shuts down Aero when it loads anyway.
