Default FS Weather -- What Do You Do?

    Folks,

I don't often get to fly for pleasure but when I do it's with downloaded real world weather. Yes winds aloft, but with turbulence defeated, and I do a static download so there won't be weather updates, which annoy me.

I no longer use FSmeteo, I'm not sure why. ActiveSky is on my buy list, but then it's been there for two years now. I'm still jake with downloaded weather. Am I missing something?

All (repeat all) are welcome in this thread.

Depends on what I'm doing... If I'm slewing myself to the end of a runway to practice landings, I want as clear a sky as I can get and zero wind. If I'm taking off from a runway and flying to a destination, I generally accept the default of mostly sunny with scattered clouds. Now, I'm starting to know what I'm doing and getting brave, so I'll start practicing IFR with some of the crappiest weather 2004 can throw at me.

Good thing these planes are only pixels.

Real world weather only for me too.

I also like pushing all the buttons to do a startup. Which is why my default flight is on a cold and dark cockpit with real world weather as a setup. Of course, mine is only in the default FS9, so no special addon there. Updating weather also included.

Same for me. Cold Dark cockpit, Everything shut down. Real World Weather, WITH Winds Aloft, and Turbulance and updates every fifteen minutes, and fly with the FS Clock as closely matched to my clock as possible.
What annoys me, is some planes do not have a button to turn on the
battery/Avionics.... So I had to assign a key for that.

Well, since my FS computer is not capable of an internet
connection, I use regular old FS9 weather!!

I also use cold and dark startups!! I start at a parking ramp
most of the time and taxi out!! I do not have the the software loaded
for the joystick so I have to do a walk around to make sure the
control surfaces are centered, they may not be but as soon as
you move the stick around, they all center fine!!

    My weather settings are,,

clouds, cirrus, 4/8s base at 5000' top at 10,000!!
Visibility at 20 miles with base at 0' and top at 28,000'!!
    wind, 10 at 360!!
    Clouds at at complex 100%!!
    rate of change max!!
    Turbulence is lite!!

    Added to fs9.cfg:

    Tablefog=0

I leave 'download real world weather' on unless it's annoying me with 2 mile visibility at 1,000AGL and below and then unlimited right above that. That @*#$&^@%#($*&^% drives me insane, where you see that layer from above. I hope they fix the visibility layers to make them more seamless in FSnext.

You can fix that I think if you raise the top of your visibility to
    28,000'!!

I think you misunderstood me, I was saying that I have that problem with the 'download real weather' function. In that case, I can't set anything. When it happens, I do as you suggested.

Same as above. Cold dark pit, everything shut down. Real world weather, winds aloft, turbulance, updates every fifteen minutes, and clock as per my PC clock. (My only gripe with this is that I get home in the evenings from work and therefore most of my flights are night flights.)
