Thread: Downtown New Orleans Photoscenery....

  1. Default Downtown New Orleans Photoscenery....

Okay, some of you saw my earlier threads where I was working on photoscenery. I learned some things that made me completely scrap what I'd done so far and start over. But what I learned from those experiments has given me the kind of workflow I need, and also taught me what I need to know to follow a project through to completion. My color correction techniques are getting better, and I've developed a pretty good technique for fall and night texture variants, though no screenies of that yet. Here's a small taste of my first REAL project that I hope to complete and upload relatively soon, it will cover downtown NO and a little of the surrounding area (french quarter etc). I will add to this in sections, to keep the downloads reasonable:

Here's the NO Arena, which is completely missing covered by a parking lot in UTX!

I'm gonna fix the bit of UTX parking lot scenery showing through around the superdome too..... (no mistake that my livery is in the Saints colors either! )

    Thanks very much Smutley!

Here's one more for the road before I hit the sack..... these are still in the rough:

EDIT: Just to point out some landmarks for those not familiar with the area......Lee Circle is in the upper left, and at the bottom right, the small green circle is the Aquarium of the Americas.

I would love that for Sunland-Tujunga.

I will honestly try to do those areas for both of you guys, but keep in mind that this is very time consuming (especially when considering multiple variations, including snow in RI).

I'm very new to this, so I'm not 100 percent sure how much I'll ever get done, but I hope to keep working at the world one tile at a time It's quickly become an addiction.

Thank you guys very much for the encouragement and for looking. I'm hoping to learn to reposition 3d objects to align with my phototextures next! Stay tuned!

Thanks Rog3r! You can even do Northern RI to start (KSFZ north), which is the area where I live around North Smithfield, Woonsocket, etc. That'd be great. I know it is time consuming and even a small state like us could have problems in doing it, so I understand! I also understand about the "it can be addicting" Look at me and repaints! I've even opened up my own aircraft livery consulting service since I love repainting so much for real world applications!

    Hey r0g3r5,

What kind of software do use use to do that? I'd like to look into doing that.
