Thread: Windows XP SP3 and FS 2004 issues?

  1. #1

Default Windows XP SP3 and FS 2004 issues?

Found this on a forum about the newly released SP3 for XP. But this person installed release candidate 3 of SP3 and not the official install.

Just wondering if anyone has installed SP3 yet?

Windows XP SP3 stops FS 2004 from running

WinXP SP3 eventually downloaded from Microsoft and I'm glad to say I have had no problems so far.

    Regards.

Another reason to install Windows service packs on a fresh OS.

One person said that he lost the ability to hybernate, there would be no response when he tries to wake it.

That's because Microsoft replaced hibernate with Coma... You sit next to your computer every day, holding it's hand..er..mouse.. and hope it eventually wakes up on it's own and hasn't forgotten all your programs it had on the hard drive.

That's extremely funny! Ha! I'm going into COMA mode now!

At least that's better than emachine FRENCH FRY mode!! Their psu's are so bad that when they blow they take the mobo with it! I could swear that w/ the two that I had fried that I could actually hear the sounds of a deep frier!!

One of the guys said that xp sp2 was so great, it was a great product, worked well like 98se or 2000. Now with sp3, it has become, not so great. What I'm hoping for is that MS will correct these sp3 maladies before it gets dropped from support. I've got win ME on a couple of computers, it's OK, I was never into S&M before but getting used to it now, and what bothers me most is that if or when MS leaves a product messed up and it is not corrected, boy that is really frustrating. So I'm hoping that before xp is abandoned, next year I think, that these problems will be corrected so that we're left with a good solid OS, and that we can still laugh at friends with Vista! The way things were meant to be!!

Wait a minute! I hope that is not MS's marketing department doing this??? Leave xp in ruins, putting win ME programmers on the job, and then leaving it so that the only hope is to upgrade to Vista??

Did I mention this before, someone said that Adobe Photoshop had a problem with sp3. Photoshop probably needs a patch according to one of my buddies.

    What problems?

XP has been solid for years now; SP3 is no different when installed properly. No problems here with Vista SP1 either.

Most of criticism of Vista and now SP3 that I have seen is coming from the speculators that have no experience with either.

I'm happy to say I loaded SP3 on the computer last night and have no negative issues so far.

On the possitive side, the computer is running smoother, faster, and it is especially noticable with FS, which is always a great test.

    I'm all s with it.

Not to be "obtuse and three dimensional" (Steve Martin), but the complaints I mentioned were from repair shop technicians who have been working on computers since jr high.

I’ve been building high end computers for myself and customers for almost ten years now, no major complaints here.
