Thread: FS2004 dilemma: New aircraft textures/Vista

  1. Default FS2004 dilemma: New aircraft textures/Vista

I recently upgraded my computer which has Windows Vista. I have FS9 installed and it runs pretty much without any flaws. The problem I'm having is after adding a new a/c. The new one seems to work fine, but when I try to add more repaints, it will not allow to save the updated aircraft.cfg file once I have added the new info to it. Anyone have any idea what I need to do, it's getting a bit frusterating.

    Thanks,
    Eric

Any chance the cfg file is Read Only?

I don't think so. I know in XP once you pasted the add on info into the cfg file, once you saved it, it was fine. It says something like the path already exist's and you can't oversrite it.

It has to do with vista's UAC. All you need to do is change the permission properties for the config file.

Right-click on file and select properties and then select the security tab.
Click edit and highlight your user name or the name of the PC and under "Allow" select "Full Control" and hit "OK". You will now be able to edit and save the file.

Thanks, that did it, works perfectly now. Very much appreciate the help!
