    Default Video card question

A Visiontek HD 360 OC 1GB ram pci-express is on sale for 119$, would this run FSX better than a GF8600 GTS 256 mb ram , the rest of my system is Core2duo 6600 with 2 gb 667 ram. Thanks for any tips

Looks like the 8600GTS is the better card. See this review:

IMO the only cards that need huge amounts of video RAM are the cards at the very top of the high-end scale. Other than that, all you get is bragging rights. In other words, unless the large amount of video RAM is on a top end card, you are paying for something that is of no real benefit. Video card manufacturers know that many people buy on the premise that more is better so that's why they stuff some mid and even some low end video cards with lots of memory.

That said, for gaming at quality settings of medium and above I'd consider 256MB to be the minimum with 512MB being preferred. The benefit of having more than that would probably not become apparent unless you have a high performance system running with maxed out game settings, high res and high AA.
