Depends on what exactly are you looking for in traffic. If it's just the normal non-real time. Then I'm sure any of the free PAI (Project AI) or WOAI (World of AI) would suffice. I know I use both of those. Plus they're free. And I don't have any complaints about their stuff. If you don't like them, you can always dump them. And you don't loose money either.
As for the other kind like Ultimate Traffic, that one really will flood your airspace like the real world. Up to 400,000 flight plans according to their website. http://ultimatetraffic.flight1.net/productinfo.htm And you better have the CPU power and graphics card to cope or you'll get bogged down with the intensity of their air traffic in real time and in real world examples. I really couldn't speak for them as I never had tried it. But I'm sure someone will pop in here that has it.

Like ED_4 wrote, you can go with the free traffic add-ons which have really nice aircraft or you can go with a payware add-on.
I myself went for My Traffic because...well I admit I'm too lazy to spend the hours downloading all the many PAI or WOAI files. I like MT because it's really an "install and forget" package which includes GA and military traffic. Plus MT is easy on frame rates.
GO for WOAI!! I use WOAI and it is great, only thing is if you have your traffic cranked up 100% you may find that there will be about six planes 20 feet away from each other, all in line for land. When you are at the back ATC will tell all the planes including you, to go around six timesbecause obviously only one can land at a time

captainliam,
As I recall, Ultimate Traffic contains a feature for smoothing the arrival times of AI traffic so it won't bunch up in the way you described. Also, I have a vague recollection from several years back about a freeware utility to do that, but don't hold my feet to the fire if I'm wrong.

Yes, there is a freeware utility to help congested traffic from stacking up too close. It's called AISmooth. At least that's one I'm familiar with and do use when I find myself approaching a crowded airport. I don't use it when I know traffic is sparse. There is one listed in the file library under FSX Utilities. I don't know why that's over there since it works just as well with FS9.

There is another utility called FS AI seperation by Armando Di Francesco.
You can find it here.

Sorry, also meant to say that I use a combination of World of AI, Project AI and Russian AI Traffic System.

I like Ultimate Traffic.
Kaloha,
Not to detract from WOAI, which is a wonderful gift to the hobby, but I wonder whether it has the following feature, which I believe is unique to Ultimate Traffic (UT), or at least used to be.
UT is based on actual airline schedules rather than simple measurements of per-airline average traffic density at the various airports. As a result, if you change the date to the day before a holiday you will get realistic spikes of air traffic along with realistic ground traffic ...
But I could be wrong because my information is several years old. By now there may be competing payware and freeware products that do the same thing. If so, someone will post here and correct me.
