Any users around here of Lock-On?

Probably the most mind-bogglingly complex game ever invented but damn, it's good!

I gave up on it. It made my head hurt too much.

    Captain Smithy,

I own Lock-On but haven't really done anything with it yet. However, I did fire it up once and found that it contains built-in instruction, a feature that I've not seen before.

Gave up on it as well. Couldn't get used to the controls...

but no, it's not the most mindbogglingly complex combat sim ever. That title goes to either F-15 Strike Eagle from Jane's (EA) or Tornado, both of which were really only flyable using the shared cockpit (yeah) feature of the network mode where one person would control either position of the aircraft.

I have it, but it is REALLY buggy, I get crashes all the time...usually video related lol!

No other software title I own crashes as frequently as LoMac hehe

I own it, play it, and love it. HOWEVER, be advised there is a pretty steep learning curve and you need a decent pc to play it. It was the modern combat version of FSX when it was released due to the high system requirements.

If you do decide to try it, get the latest patch to avoid any crashing issues or bugs that bogged the game down when it was first released.

    Hope you enjoy it!

do you have the gold version? I have the original, and I think that's why it's so buggy.

I have applied the latest patches but mine still crashes on a regular basis

I don't have the gold version (which is actually LOMAC with Flaming Cliffs). Mine doesn't crash very often after applying the 1.02 patch (which I assume you have installed). Try doing a full uninstall and reinstall and then applying the patch. If that doesn't fix your problems, it could be your video or sound drivers. I remember reading that LOMAC is very finicky with sound drivers back when it first came out.

    Hope that helps, happy simming!

I have it.Recently got into all this, having just bought an Athlon 64 phenom. It plays quite smooth. Can 'freeze' occasionally-just as FS2004,GTA san andreas does.
Took a few hours, but i'm used to the SU 27.I thought i'd concentrate on flying just the one plane. The A10 is a little much. The F15 isn't too hard.
The missions are limited, but the head to head is a good aspect (against AI).One problem is,with a mission involving a ship, the anti-ship missiles don't appear.I can't attack the ship-only with the gun.
Its a great sim all the same, great graphics.Mind you,i would think that!! The last combat sim i played was on a commadore 128,''ACE'' i think it was called.About 20 years ago!!!!
