Thread: Adding Buildings in Fictional Airports

  1. Smile Adding Buildings in Fictional Airports

Can someone please finish my airport? I've looked everywhere and the guides are too complicated for me and also (If possible) help me get rid of the trees and houses that don't belong there

    My Airport is called

John Junz International Airport (RPJJ) Quezon City, Philippines
    RPJJ3.bgl

I don't really care what buildings are added. just add buildings on the places marked as "BRICKS" on the ground. Also can AFX model buildings (easily)? Cause I'm planning on buying it. and the airport is for FSX

Which utility did you use to create the airport so far?

Looking at it you have created a pretty much rectangular airport (a grass apron?). Every airport needs a background polygon. This covers the area of the airport and has to do two things. First to flatten the area and second exclude things that you don't want there like trees, buildings and so on. You can't create these with any of the FSX airport design utilities at the moment so would need to use a separate tool. This could be either FSX KML or SBuilderX.

To add buildings is also quite straight forward. You mention AFX from Flight1 - that tool cannot add buildings but there is a sister program that can called Instant Scenery. This allows you to place objects 'In Sim'. Thre is also a freeware tool called Whisplacer that works in a similar way (but has limited documentation)

FSX comes with a lot of standard objects and buildings (over 3000 in all) so with something like Instant Scenery you can select the objects you want to place and pop them on to your airport.

As a note there are two freeware alternatives to AFX (assuming you have the deluxe edition of FSX)

Can you tell me specificlly what to exclude? I want to get rid of trees and houses there, but keep my jetways and buildings. So Whisplacer can like add buildings? I used "Airport Design Editor" to make this airport.

Please see my last post in this thread - it describes airport polygons and might help

An exclusion should not remove the stuff that you added such as Jetways. Yes Whisplacer can add buildings.
