Can someone tell me how to import new planes? I downloaded and extracted it to
the aircraft folder but it isn't on my list of planes I can choose.

Check you have'nt got a double folder go into Cfs Main aircraft folder Find the
plane that does'nt show open the folder you should have- model panel sound and
texture folders + air files. If you find on opening your missing plane folder
another single folder with the plane name on open that folder if model panel
etc appears close that folder move it out into the main aircraft folder delete
the now empty original folder Its the usual cause for a plane not showing.

Also check the panel.cfg (in the Panel folder) and sound.cfg (in the Sound
folder) files for aliasing. You can use Notepad to open and edit the files. If
they are aliasing a non-existent aircraft in your Aircraft folder they won't
    show up either.

If you go to http://www.home.epix.net/~ctneveil/index.htm i think you'll find
some very good tutorials in text form for importing air craft scenery etc. as
above the config files are another good head banger it might be only one of
them ailiasing but unless you know what you are looking for. Ah the joys of
    being a newbie .

Just a suggestion: I created a special folder in My Documents called FS
Downloads. I download everything to that folder. Next, in the C:\ directory I
created anpother file called "unzipped." That way, when i unzip anything it
    goes to the "unzipped" file.

Since most of the zip files contain other zip files - for aircraft, panels,
missions, etc. that allows me to sort out everything befoe I import them into
Cfs. Once the files are unzipped you can look and see whats inside without
screwing up your main Cfs files.

Another suggestion: For those secondary zip files, you can unzip them and
they'll appear in the same unzipped folder you as your first files; then just
click and drag them into the main aircraft folder. Drop the zipped files
intothe recycle bin as you go. (You can recall them in an emergency).

Once everything is ready, just back up to C:\ and then go through program
files, microsoft games, Cfs, and look for the aircraft folder. Open that and
drop your new plane into it. It's easy.

Don't forget to put the gauge files into the main gauge folder and the mission
files in the mission folder. Usually when i'm preparing the aircraft folder in
my unzipped directory, I put the gauge and mission folders inside of it then
move everything at once. Once installed in the Cfs aircraft directory I then
move gauges and missions to the appropriate directory. When that's done I go
back and eliminate the gauge and mission folders from my aircraft directory.
That's to remend me that the installation is complete.

It sounds complicated, but it is sequential and keeps your files neat and
    clean.

More or less my method but it would take me a month to type all that.
