Default Weather change - am I doing the wrong thing

When I tried to change the weather settings for some heavy precipitation and about 5 miles of visibility in the global weather setting, the precipitation and visibility just returned to my previous setting after I pressed OK!! Did I do anything wrong? What is the diff between global and local weather? Can I set different local weather at the same time so that I can have my destination airport's weather condition diff from my take off one?

It's a good idea to `clear all weather` first, then set the new conditions. That should do it. I'm guessing you have FSUIPC instaled, which does tend to make the weather slightly more persistent in adhering to its original settings...
