    Default Re: PLEASE HELP!!!

I have been getting a error message now for the past few weeks. When I try to
start CFS or FS 98 I get a Winmm.dll error. I have never had any problems with
Microsoft products before. I called product support three times but thaat did
not help. I have download the all the new drivers for my video card and
reinstalled the directx 6 files. I have also defragmented the hard drive.
nothing worked. I have a Pentium II 450 from Dell with a TNT card and Windows
    98. If anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it!

    Thanks again

Sorry to hear you're having problems, Matt. In checking my computer, I could
not find a "WINMM.DLL" file, so this is not something that is specific to CFS.
As a guess, it sounds like a video or sound .dll. What does the error message
state, specifically? It should tell you the file is "not found" or, if it is
just an error, the file is probably corrupted.

Any additional info you can provide might help ferret out a solution.

Frank, it says that "COMBATFS (or FS 98) caused an invalid page fault in
module WINMM.DLL at 015f:bfe16633." You are right, Microsoft support did say
the .dll had to do with Windows mutimedia stuff. I replaced the file on my
computer with the one on the Windows 98 CD, but it did not help. If anyone can
help with this problem, I would be real thankful!

    Thanks for all your help,

    Matt

I have that file in the Windows\System folder. From the date, it was probably
a part of the Win99 installation. I don't know what it does, but usually the
problem isn't with the driver, but with the data that is passed to the driver.
I'm afraid I'm not much help either, except to advise you to look somewhere
else than the driver for the solution. bob F.
