Anyone know how to disable crashes when landing on water in CFS? I've imported
my beautiful RAF PBY Catalina. It looks and flys great, but it sure looks
funny moored in the middle of the airfield at Biggen! There doesn't seem to be
an equivalent to the FS98 "Disable off-runway crashes" in CFS. If you set the
player "invincible" feature you just bounce back to 500 ft or so after
"crashing" - it doesn't let you land.

Otherwise its a great program. With all the flak ole Bill Gates is taking
someone should give Microsoft a little credit for sticking with the open
architecture approach (for whatever reason) - makes for a unique product and
    community of users.

    Torrence,
As I was able to make a belly-landing without crashing (I mean the airplane
stayed in one piece) I don't see why it should be impossible to land a seaplane
in CFS. It ought to be exactly the same thing, I guess. I'll try it to be sure.

To make a safe belly landing on the gound, the engine have to be shut down
before the contact, or the plane explode in impacting the earth.

    Herve,
Thanks - I'll give it a try even if its not a complete solution. What I
experimented with was just using the "Go to location" feature to place the
aircraft on some water at 0 ft altitude - always got a crash but I'm not sure
if the engines were running. Of course a real seaplane landing is power on.

    Torrence,
I was speaking of shuting the engine down only for a belly landing on the
ground. But i'm not sure wether the procedure is the same on ditching an
    airplane in water.
Of course, there would be no point in cutting the engine before touch-down in a
seaplane. Perhaps it 's impossible to land a plane in water in CFS, unlike in
    FS98; I still didn't tried.

    Torrence,
    Too bad!
I just checked if it was really impossible to ditch an airplane in CFS; and you
are right, the plane explode as soon as it comes in contact with the water.
On the contrary, it is possible to make a belly-landing.
Too bad that MS didn't thought that over the channel, chances are that in case
of trouble, a pilot could be forced to ditch is plane. Anyway, this means that
it is impossible to use seaplanes in CFS (at least for the moment?!)

    Yeah,

I figure there's probably an easy fix to the scenery setting characteristics
somewhere in the code though. Someone will get around to it on a later patch
or figure out how to disable it. I haven't had time to dig around in the
config files as thoroughly as some of the people posting messages.

Anyway the PBY5A amphibian version works (I have in New Zealand livery - a
little exotic for merry old England but at least part of the Empire for the
    time period).

    Cheers,
    Torrence

    Torrence,
There is for sure something in the scenery code that make landing wheels-up in
    the water impossible.
the only plane I tried was a PBY-2; Perhaps a plane can land in the water if it
is designed in a certain way. I'll have to check this too. I didnt tried an
    amphibian yet.
