    Hello all simfellows

Well, I try for 2 days now to have CFS recognize a F4U imported from FS98
I tried everything, copying the panel, checking it, checking the gauges,
reassigning the CFS P51D panel, no way to get that plane appearing...

What could prevent a FS98 from being in CFS, after checking plane, panel, sound
and gauges ? I am also sure that it is not a model "perturbed" by landing
lights, I tried both with the same results

Help, I want my corsair in the air !
    Katy,

I don't have CFS yet, but in FS98 it's awfully easy to use forward slashes (/)
where you need backslashes (\) in the path names in .cfg files. Sometimes a
single character out of place or missing can be the problem, also. Otherwise, I
    don't know.

    Good luck,

    Larry N.

    Hi Katy
The F4u transferred perfectly from FS98 to CFS in my system, so it is possible.
Some thoughts: If it's working in FS98, just copy the F4U file from your FS98
Aircraft file to the CFS Aircraft file directly and copy all the appropriate
gauges to the CFS gauges file. Assuming you probably did that already...
-- look for the aircraft alphabetically as "Corsair..." (At first I couldn't
find mine because I was looking for "F4U").
-- be sure you didn't originally load it as a sub file rather than a file
under Aircraft (That's the mistake I originally made -- it was listed as
    C:\FS98\Aircraft\Corsair\F4U5nlr... instead of C:\FS98\Aircraft\F4U5nlr..)
It flies just great, by the way. You'll love it. If all this is too
    elementary, I apologize. -- Cloudy --

Also, I just discovered that the CFS Aircraft lists planes in an alphabetical
order that puts Capital letters ahead of lower case -- example:
    B17
    BOEING-727
    BOEING-747
    Boeing-727
    CORSAIR
    Capital Airlines DC3
    Cessna 170B etc -- Cloudy --

I too am a fan of the F4U and funnily enough I had the same problems getting it
    to appear im CFS.
Although you say that all files are in place, the only reason CFS will refuse
to show an aircraft is if a file reference points to a file it can't find.
I finally got mine to work by including full path details whever any of the
.cfg files pointed to a file (eg. panel=c:\.......etc.).
    Hope this helps.

Hello and thanks for the reply

I finally got it, all the files were present but the model one was damaged,
scandisk did not see it but thanks to norton diskdoctor now I may fly the F4U !

    Cloudy,

How does one steer the F4u on the ground in FS98? My joystick isn't doing it,
but works the ailerons. Bill I.

    Cloudy,

    Bill --
I get the best steering effects on the ground using rudder and differential
braking (F11 and F12) and appropriate blasts from the propeller.
Go to Home..Settings...Customize controls ... and set the rudder and others to
high -- it works for me. You can maneuver better in the air, too.
By the way, I don't use a joystick or yoke, even though I have both. I'm just
used to finger-dancing the keys, I guess. Anybody else prefer the keyboard?

Another observation -- I've tried keeping my disk in my 2x CD drive, but the
time interval between sessions is much longer than when it's in my 24x drive,
so I figure there is a significant loading of information with each disk
access, despite my full install -- not just a perfunctory use of the disk just
for copy protection, for what it's worth.
