    Hello everyone --

Like many of you, I'm eagerly awaiting the release of CFS. Not for the sim,
per se, but for what it offers up in the multi-player arena. After all, who
here HASN'T wanted to go one-on-one in a heavily-armed 172 with somebody on the
Internet Gaming Zone? The possibilities are very, very exciting.

Having said that, I have one concern: Performance. My machine config is
    below:

    Pentium 233MMX
    64 MB RAM
Diamond Monster 4 MB Voodo1 card
    MS Force Feedback joystick

This setup has been outstanding for me in FS98 in 800x600 mode. In the review
on this site, however, it was mentioned that this sim "never" got a high frame
    rate.

My question is this: Will the above setup be suitable for respectable
framerates in 640x480 3D mode? If not, what setup would be required.

    Thanks for your time.

I've been running CFS on an old 100 MHz Pentium and even at 800x600 3D with
scenery settings turned up I find that I can play it, though the frame
rates aren't the greatest. Turning things down (say, by running 640x400
or lowering the scenery settings...there are lots of things that can be
controlled) it really runs quite good. I think with your P233 it should
    be fine.

Tony, and anyone else with same question,

    I'm currently running MSCFS on a P133 w/80Mb RAM, & a 4Mb Monster 3D card. I
seem to be able to run the game well enough for my enjoyment. One note to all
is, I had to get a new CD Rom, because my old 8 speed wouldnt keep up with the
loading of the game. So just a word of caution on that. I hope you all get
enjoyment as I've done in the last couple of days. Happy flying!

    Jeff

PS, if anyone can help with the adding of scenery, please email me at
Storm@fwbnet.com I cant seem to get the game to find the new scenery

    Greetings:
I am running a Pentium 120, with 24MB RAM, and can barely run CBFS only if all
textures (sky, ground, and possibly aircraft) are turned off, and all programs in
the background are shut down. Even with those measures, I'm running frame
rates of 3 to 5 per second. ....I think it's time upgrade my hardware!

While you're at it, Glenn grab yourself a 3D card. It'll cost you
a bit of money, but you'll be thrilled at the results! The AMD K6-2 300 series

chips and motherboards are priced pretty reasonably right now. I picked one
up a couple weeks ago, and I'm thrilled with what it's done to FS 98 (don't
have CFS just yet). Good luck!

From my experience with the same cpu but a monst II card andd 64 megs
ram...dont waste your money frame rates are below playable levels. You can
play it but..... Need a PII at least of the same rating (233) you
mentioned...preferably 400! This prob is only in combat..quite good in quick
flt and single mission. BUt campaign...forget it.

    Tony-
    I have AMD233MMX, 64MB SDRAM, 4MB Matrox Mystique and I only get 5-8fps. I
found out later that my Mystique card is the problem. Maybe someone will come
up with a fix but for now the game is unplayable.
