    Default Re: Turboprop Aircraft

When I download a turboprop aircraft they don't all have the turboprop
sound but rather the jet sound with the jet Panel. How can I change the jet
sound to a turboprop sound I have? Thanks

The change is simple. Going into windows explorer/programs/microsoft
    games/flightsimulator/

expand the aircraft folder and look for the aircraft that you want to add
the sound to and expand it and click on the sound folder

Now find the aircraft that has the sound that you want to use and then
    either

a.)open the cfg file in the sound folder of the aircraft you are trying to
change and change the name of the aliased aircraft to the aircraft that has the
    sound you want.
Pros: saves on hard drive space
Cons: If you don't edit the cfg properly it won't work

b.) copy the sound iles from the aircraft that has them to the aircraft that
    you are trying to change.

Pro's: no miss, you have the sounds exactly
Con's: You use a good size chuck of hard drive(the size of the sound files)

** If you have a super sized hd then using the space is no problem.

I tried to no avail for about 2 hours to get this thing going right. Every
time I made a change my aircraft would not appear in the aircraft select in
FS98. When I reloaded the original zip file back into aircrafts all was well. I
remember back in Windows 3.1 you couldn't edit a config file through windows
but had to go to DOS. Am I not editing the .cfg file correctly?? I just changed
the file from ^alias=learjet45\sound^ to ^alias=dhc6cg\sound, which is the
aircraft I want to use the sound files from, and saved it.
I also tried to copy the files I want directly into my sound dir. but as I
said the aircraft would not appear in my aircraft selection after any change.
Should I run the changed aircraft through the converter after changes before I
try to use it. These changes were sure a lot easier in 5.1
Sure do appreciate your help Mutt

    Mutt;
After working for about 2 hours I finally got the sound change. I just
pointed the alias in the sound.cfg I wanted to change to an existing aircraft
in FS98. I then took all the sound files from this aircraft and put them in a
folder called "original". I then copied the files I wanted to use into the
existing aircraft sound folder and it worked!!
Thanks for all your help. Doug
