I used to be a really enthusiastic flight simmer a while back (FS 98, FS2000,
CFS, Crimson Skies, Flight Unlimited II and MiG Alley), but removed them when I
upgraded my PC and never bothered to put them back on.

A couple of weekends back I unearthed all of these sims during a basement
clean-out and decided to reload a couple including FS98. I had forgotten how
much fun they were! I spent some time over the weekend downloading some
aircraft, scenery, etc found my old Wingman joystick and set it all up as I
used to have it, and I'm having a ball!!

With the newer machine of course I now get incredible frame rates which I never
saw a few years ago, and I re-discovered the Old Hangar and Golden Wings which
    I find enormous fun!

Anyway that's it. I just wanted to share my newly (re)discovered affair for
    FS98 with other enthusiasts!

    regards,

    Andy Kay

Welcome Back, Andy. I have to admit I've been away from The Old Hangar
while a checked out a new, freeware simulation called Orbiter -
    http://www.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/~martins/orbit/orbit.html
by Martin Schwieger. It's everything the reviews say about it and more. I'd
compare it to FS2000 in texturing and the simulation engine, but it will
easily work on a P2 300mhz as long as you have an 8 meg Vidcard and 64megs
ram. It's got a huge cadre of third party developers too.
