    Hello,

I am fairly new to the flight sim world. I have purchased FS98 due to my
computer limits at this time. AMD 535 with 189MBmemory. 8mb 3d acclerator.
My problem is when I actually enable the accelerator I get great frame rates
and the graphics are very good but my computer freezes up after just a few
minutes. This happens every time. I have down loaded the latest version of my
graphics driver, this does not help. Any suggestions would be greatly
    appreciated.

    thanks,

    Joe
    Hi Joe,

Does the freez happend only with FS98?

If so then - have you installed the converter and the patch 1 for FS98 (in that
order)? You can find them here under the must have file section. You could
also try reducing the hardware accelaration by one notch. You can access this
by Settings->Control Panel->System->Performance->Graphics. Does the freeze
happen with all any aircraft you fly, any particular scenery area you fly?

Hope these give you some sort of pointers.

    Cheers)Aziz

    Hello Aziz:

Well I guess the information I gave you was off a little. It is not when I have
the acceleration enabled that it freezes. It is when I use my Trident
Cyberblade 3D diplay driver with it enabled and use the advanced 3D options.
I have great graphics with this but it freezes up almost instantly. I set the
acceleration down a notch. This does not help. This happens in all aircraft all
scenery all the time. Oh, yes I have the converter and patch 1 installed in the
    right order. Any more suggestions.

    thanks,

    Joe

    Hi Joe,

Click here to see what the Microsoft Support site has got to say about this
particular video card. None of them specific to FS98 but it does mention in
the item in 1, that other games might suffer as well. If this is true then
sorry about bringing you the bad news.
