    Default Re: Scenerys for

Being a new user of FS4 I have happily downloaded and successfully used some of
the aircraft files from "flightsim.com". Trying the same with a scenery led to
dismay and frustration as it did not work, and I gradually understand some
add-on (ASD and/or AAF) is needed for the sceneries I have found so far.

Hence the question: Are there any sceneries available that can be added to a
    "naked" FS4 (version 4.0b)??
Yes, there are heaps but they are all commercial addons, not freeware and
shareware sceneries which usually require ASD. SubLogic made 10(?) scenery
disks covering most of the USA, as well as scenery disks for Europe, Japan
and Hawaii, for FS3 which also work in FS4 (as well as in ATP). Sublogic also
made scenery of Great Britain and California, and later USA East & West, for
FS4. Mallard made FS4 scenery disks for the Grand Canyon, Tahiti and Japan.
None of these require ASD to work with FS4. They are not now available in
shops, but sometimes people advertise old copies for sale through forums like
    this one.

These discussions are very helpful in learning more about flight sims. I am
assuming the SubLOGIC and Mallard are companies. Is that correct?

Yes, or they were. As I understand it neither exists any longer. BTW, Mallard
also published a FS4 scenery disk of Hawaii.
