I have Flight Simulator 2002 installed on my PC with Windows XP, a nVidia Graphics card, SoundBlaster sound card, 866 MHz, and 256 MB of RAM. After I exit FS2002, the computer performs very slowly. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Yep! Defrag your drive 2-3 times if you haven't recently! It will make a big difference and just wait for like minute or two after closing FS2002 before you start anything else. That works on my computer. :-)

I have a soundblaster sound card win xp nvidia geforce 4 ti 4400 and I found that the sound card was causing my machine to run slow. If you go to dxdiag.exe and turn the sound slider to basic acceleration then you will have a lot better fps and you won't notice any change in the sound.....good luck

defragging your drive more than once will not make a difference.

My best advice is to download and install the Utility program, EnditAll. It will shut off everything that is running in the background. If you ever run MSCONFIG you will probably notice you haved alot of garbage running on your computer that really isn't required. You should also run "EnditAll" prior to installing software on your computer. Caution!! Never close your Explorer or Systray. These two must run at all times. And like what has already been stated, do a defrag at least once a week. Also get in the habit of shutting down Windows and then doing a reboot. Espcially if you are running the Millenium OS. Believe it or not Millenium need to be shutdown daily. I'm, sure this will be debated but thats o.k. Your health of your PC is very important. Also keep your files cleaned up as much as possible. Delete your old history and Temp. Files. All this slows down your computer. Unfortunately, Windows is not a perfect program. Hope this helps.
the reason why windows is running so slow after shutting down fS si because the computer is clearing all the cache files from FS scenery... it only takes a few seconds (15/20) and it should be back to normal.....(look at your hdd LED)
Defragging will not improve this
