Let me start by stating that I'm not the brightest bulb in the box, since I am
Infantry.

I am working on an aircraft and I have updated the .mdl often and suddenly last
night the ailerons dissappeared. I am using FSDS pro with Aircraft Animator.
The wierd thing is, the shadow showes the ailerons but they do not appear on
the aircraft. They show up in FSDS and AA. When I run FS2002 the darn things
aern't there.

Please help so my wife doesn't kill me for wasting so much time.
Hello, Raymond,
I'm an Air Factory 99 man myself (which, in some circles, sets another bulb
standard...), so I'm only guessing on FSDS. However, in AF99 and its
predecessor, Flight Simulator Flight Shop, it was possible to exceed limits of
complexity with no apparent warning. That is, the plane would apparently
"Produce" correctly (i.e., go through its computer compiling process), but
elements would be missing. Curiously, sometimes these would be missing in
Aircraft Animator as well.
In truth, I never noticed whether the missing things still cast shadows.
However, not knowing how shadows are computer-formed, I wouldn't be surprised
by this.
The easiest solution was to redesign something or other in a simplier way.
(Once I found that changing propellers from 18-point to 12-point did the trick;
there were 8 of them...).
Hope this helps. -- Dennis S, FSEngEd@aol.com
