    Steve,
You should be able to disable the static aircraft throughout your sim by
de-selecting the 'ai aircraft' in the display options. To disable them within
a given area, I believe creating an exclude area in airport 2.XX will work.

To create an over-lapping bgl, (seperate .bgl with optional static aircraft),
I would suggest that you use windows explorer to create a copy (highlight .apt
file, right-click on it, and select 'copy', go to another folder, and
right-click and select 'paste', then re-name the copy to whatever you like, and
move it back to the main airport 2.XX folder. Now open the new .apt file with
airport, and delete all the objects that aren't static planes, save and
compile. Now you should go back to the original scenery, and delete the static
aircraft, save and compile. This should work.

    Two questions...

Can I stop the default static aircraft from showing in FS2002 or FS2004 ?
They don't line up roperly in my Airport 2.6 scenery.

Also, what is the best way to create a BGL file that just contains static
aircraft which I have created using the mdltobgl program ? I would like to
upload my scenery without static aircraft for users that want to add their own
using FSTraffic, MYTraffic, etc. But I would like to provide a separate BGL
file that someone could add if they wanted to use my static aircraft. Any ideas
    would be appreciated.

FS2002/FS2004 do not have default static aircraft, they have AI aircraft. The
only way to stop them from being initialized to the existing gates/parking at
airports is to set the percentage of AI to zero percent or decompile the
traffic.bgl file and eliminate all the AI flightplans.

Most designers are not using static aircraft since AI aircraft became
available. I recommend you download ttools202.zip by Lee Swordy and review the
    excellent documentation concerning AI.

To make your AI aircraft align with your new scenery, you need AFCAD which I
recommended in your other post. It is used to modify the AFD files to place
taxiways, gates, starting points, hold short lines, etc.

If you still want to have static aircraft in areas of the airport that have no
gates/parking spaces, then place those static aircraft in those spaces using
your scenery design program. You should have a separate compiled *.bgl file
that only has the aircraft. You can do this by having a background map of your
newly designed airport as a new project, then place the static aircraft (3D
Objects) at the locations you want at the airport, compile this project and
place with your other compiled *.bgl files in the same folder. Make sure you
also provide the textures for the static aircraft.

When you zip the designed scenery for distribution, place the static aircraft
*.bgl and static aircraft textures in a separate folder, STATIC, then explain
to the downloader that if they want static aircraft to place the static
aircraft *.bgl and static aircraft textures in the appropiate folders.

Lastly, the problem with using static aircraft is that is uses additional
processing just like anything else you place in the scenery. AI aircraft can
act as static aircraft by making flight plans that have the aircraft fly during
periods that you will not be at your computer flying.

Thanks much for the feedback. I'll have to check those programs out.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll try this and the suggestions that were
posted by wsieffert on this forum.
