I just wanted to post to express how much I am getting out of this add-on by Yannick Lavigne. It is an absolutely stunning achievement - one that takes advantage of FS2k2's bells and whistles without a performance hit (at least in my experience.)
The virtual cockpit is nothing short of outstanding, and is a very, very immersive (is that a word?) way to fly. Finally, I can be on a vector to final approach and be scanning the horizon for runwayt lights. It "feels" much more real than the 2d cockpits i use for other planes. And again, it's runninng smooth as butter. I swear, i'm getting more consistenly fluid motion with the virtual cockpit than I tend to experience with the 2d panels; although, that could be my imagination.
(One thing, though - i've yet to figure a way to change my barometric pressure setting without going to 2d)
The exterior model, like in 2000, is also fabulous. I also love the visible landing lights from inside the cockpit and the fact that taxi lights actually turn with the nose wheel. Very sharp. Great detail.
Anyway, I see a lot of complaints (and have posted my share) in these forums. Thought I'd add some kudos!
My specs:
PIV 1.3 GHZ
512 MB RDRAM
Geforce 3 Ti500
Many sliders maxed; terrain mesh, clouds and ATC turned down. Most boxes checked. (except AA, which i have the vidcard handling.)
GTU tweaks for Mip-mapping, anisotropic filtering and FSAA.
