Hi Guys. Can anyone tell me were to find the v2.1 upgrade patch for ASD. I have

V2.0 on CD and want to do some design in FS2002, but understand that I need
2.1. I've been on Abacus website but can't find a patch anywhere. Any help
would be appreciated. Thanx

I don't recall if ASD 2.1 was a free upgrade patch or a separate program one
had to purchase. I know the update from version 1.1 to 2.0 had to be purchased
from Abacus. I imagine the version of ASD they sell on their website is version
2.1. When FS2002 first came out, I contacted Abacus and was informed that they
will not be updating ASD for FS2002 or beyond. There is an informational paper
on their website that you can download to see what works with FS2002, although
you may have to read between the lines a bit to see what doesn't work. For
example, polygons created in ASD 2.1 will exclude any default autogen buildings
in the area of your airport designed in ASD 2.1. I used many polygons in my ASD
sceneries and the autogen buildings don't appear for a mile or more around the
airports. You will also have to create a separate macro to smooth the entire
airport area because taxiways in ASD 2.1 cause aircraft to bounce
uncontrollably in FS2002.

I plan to continue to use ASD for some aspects of scenery design, but recently
I made the decision to start learning to use Airport 2.6 because of ASD's
compatibility problems. If ASD 2.1 was indeed a free patch, I have a copy of
the patch and could email it to you ( about a 4 mb file ).

Hi Steve,

I'm sure 2.1 was an upgrade (and free) because I've also got the original file
on my HD as downloaded.

The ASD_FS2002.PDF file is handy because I'd almost given up any thought of it
working at all in FS2002. It will need supplementing though - maybe Airport 3
when it comes out to add the things ASD can't do.

Pity they (or Peter J) have decided not to continue developing it for FS2002 -
it was a very good program..
