in DXT1 format. No paint program will view these directly as they don`t have
the appropriate format filters.
The reason you get 1/3 stripes and 2/3 black is that Bmps are read from the
bottom and DXT is 1/4 of the filesize of normal 16 bit. PSP is trying to read
the data (garbled because of the format) and runs out of data part way up the
image.
Those who have FS2002 Pro can use the ImageTool program (in the Gmax folders
somewhere) to convert these formats. Those who don`t will have to use DXTBmp
from

Note that if you want to preserve the reflective qualities of the default
Aircraft you will need to preserve the DXT3 Alpha channel (which supplies the
Reflectivity data) throughout your editing
